This Brooklyn Distillery Turns Fresh Ginger Into an Award

The bar at Barrow's Intense Tasting Room in Sunset Park, Brooklyn boasts nearly 200 spirits sourced from dozens of distilleries across New York State, but at their own production facilities, they make a singular specialty, an award-winning ginger liqueur. Inside the Industry City distillery, hundreds of pounds of fresh ginger are transformed into a unique spirit that can be enjoyed on its own or mixed into classic cocktails. Tour & Tasting at Barrow's Intense

On this tour, you’ll witness the step-by-step process that goes into manufacturing every bottle of Barrow's Intense Ginger Liqueur, a vegan, Kosher, and gluten-free liqueur spirit that has won a Best in Class (Liqueurs) medal at the SIP Awards and other accolades. You’ll watch as the talented production team washes, trims, chops, macerates, and presses hundreds of pounds of fresh ginger for each batch. That ginger is then placed in a cane-neutral spirit for one month and bottled.

After seeing how Barrow's Intense Ginger Liqueur is made, you’ll get to participate in a Q&A with the production team and sample both their liqueur and the essence of their liqueur, the macerated, over-proof spirit that has been run off of an antique cider press before any sweetening or dilution occurs.

Barrow's Intense Tasting Room was established in 2019. Named for the New York City street where the liqueur was first conceived, the Brooklyn tasting room hosts weekly events. At the bar, guests can enjoy a flight of specially crafted cocktails that feature Barrow's Intense Ginger Liqueur. The bar also boasts New York City's largest selection of New York State whiskey, gin, vodka, brandy, and more. You can enjoy your drink inside at the bar or outside in a private courtyard with cozy fire pits.
